Subject: Lincoln returns from Black Hawk War
Description: After Captain Abraham Lincoln's volunteer company disbanded at Peoria, he travels by canoe homeward to New Salem with George M. Harrison down the Illinois River, their horses having been stolen. On July 17, 1832, Lincoln lands at Havana, Mason County, Illinois after paddling with an oar he made in Pekin. John Todd Stuart of his company traveled by horseback and met them at Havana.
