| Prints from 29 Counties Prints made from negatives from the original ink and wash art work of the late artist, Lloyd Ostendorf The first set of prints was initiated by Phil Wagner at the Central Illinois Tourism Council in 1974-1975. The Council consisted of 28 counties in central Illinois, Mr. Lincoln's country. Phil proposed that each county submit an episode in Lincoln's life that pertained to that county. Dr. Wayne Temple would verify the accuracy, and Lloyd Ostendorf would create an ink and wash. The Council was able to get 60% funding from the State of Illinois and the rest was either donated by an individual or the county. These originals were retained by some counties, and some found their way into individual's possession. Lloyd and Phil Wagner made negatives of these originals before delivery to the counties. The intent was to sell sets to raise money for the Central Illinois Tourism. The pictures were made so that they could be used in brochures, prints, trade shows, hand-outs, etc. At the time, Phil Wagner was promoting the Lincoln Long Nine Museum in Athens, Illinois, Menard County, as well as serving on the Springfield Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee. The negatives have been misplaced, but when located, the purchaser of the prints will be contacted.
