18" x 24" art work by Lloyd Ostendorf. 1977 reenactment of Grant leaving Springfield, Illinois and marching his men to Naples, Illinois when he was a Colonel in the Illinois Militia.

There are two signs. One of the signs bears three special U.S. Postal, one day only cancellations. June 10, Springfield, IL; June 11, Jacksonville, IL; and June 12, Naples, IL. The special cancellation is an exact duplicate of the signs marking Grant's March to Fame.

 

(Most of the signs were stolen from their mile marker metal posts, and a few extra signs (5) were given to some of the major participants.)
