The re-election of President Abraham Lincoln in 1864

The Colonel Matthew Rogers family had its first family reunion since the Civil War in Athens, Illinois. During the Civil War, part of the family were Union and part of the family were Confederates. Phil Wagner hosted a reunion in 1978. Lincoln borrowed books, picked up mail and visited the Colonel Rogers family home on many occasions. They donated a trunk filled with memorabilia from the family's days in Athens, Illinois. Phil Wagner, Bob Church and John Throsen drove to Centrallia, Kansas and picked up the materials. At the time, Phil Wagner was the Chairman of the board of the Long Nine Museum, which was housed in the Colonel Rogers General Store and Post Office on Main Street in Athens, Illinois. The trunk was given to the Long Nine Inc. who in turn donated the materials to the State of Illinois, with the Rogers Family being the honorees at the transfer of documents. Before the State of Illinois received the original items, Phil Wagner made negatives and positives of the four rare broadside posters.
