The Lincoln Family
The 2007 edition of the city of Springfield ornament series celebrates the Lincoln family in Springfield. In the ornament design, Springfield artist Gale Myers silhouettes the sculptures of the Lincoln family – Abraham, Mary, Willie and Robert in front of the Lincoln-Herndon Law Office located in the Tinsley Building.
The sculptures on the south Old State Capitol Plaza are by artist Larry Anderson. They depict Mrs. Lincoln smoothing her husband’s lapel in preparation for his delivery of a speech on October 4, l854. Willie is with them, waving to Robert who stands a short distance away. Lincoln’s speech is tucked into his hatband.
Each ornament is 24-karat gold-plated, including a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.
