Rees Memorial Carillon
Illinois Washington Park is home to one of the worlds
largest and finest carillons. The
carillon and tower were a gift to Springfield from Thomas
Rees, publisher of the Illinois State Register in the late 19th
and early 20th centuries. Based on drawings by artist Evelyn Wilson
and architect Wes Corgan, the ornament is 24-karat gold-plated
and is accompanied by a signed and numbered certificate and a
history of Rees gift.
