St. John's Hospital

St. John’s Hospital, established by the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis in 1875, is a historic landmark in both the medical and the religious communities in Springfield, Illinois. One of the oldest still-standing buildings on the hospital’s campus, as drawn by hospital graphic artist Deborah Yoggerst, is portrayed in 24-karat gold-plate on the 2000 Springfield City Ornament. Each ornament comes with a signed and numbered certificate containing a brief summary of the hospital’s 125-year history.
